In a strategic move to de-escalate rising tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan concluded high-level discussions via a dedicated military hotline. Indian DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai and his Pakistani counterpart, Major General Kashif Chaudhry, participated in the talks, which were initially scheduled for noon but were postponed to later in the evening.
The conversation focused on maintaining the recently agreed ceasefire, minimizing cross-border hostilities, and addressing broader issues such as developments in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Sources indicate that both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the ceasefire agreement reached on May 10, which followed a spike in tensions triggered by incidents including the Pahalgam terror attack, India’s counter-operation ‘Sindoor,’ and continued provocations by the Pakistani military.
These DGMO-level talks reflect an ongoing effort by both nations to foster stability and prevent further escalation. While no official joint statement was released, defense analysts view the dialogue as a constructive step toward restoring calm and reducing the risk of armed conflict.
