In a strong diplomatic outreach, an Indian all-party delegation led by Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) MP Supriya Sule engaged in high-level discussions with Qatar’s top lawmakers, securing a powerful endorsement for India’s firm stance against cross-border terrorism.
The delegation, which includes prominent MPs such as Manish Tewari (Congress), Rajiv Pratap Rudy (BJP), Anurag Thakur (BJP), V. Muraleedharan (BJP), Anand Sharma (Congress), Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu (TDP), Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney (AAP), and veteran diplomat Syed Akbaruddin, is visiting Doha to highlight India’s Operation Sindoor and to expose Pakistan’s state-sponsored terror activities.
Congress MP Manish Tewari described the meeting with Qatar’s Shura Council—particularly with Deputy Speaker Sheikha Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti—as “productive and constructive.” In a statement posted on X, Tewari emphasized that India asserted its sovereign right to defend itself from hostile threats, especially those originating from Pakistan’s support of terrorism.
“India is a civilisational state with a 5,000-year-old heritage. We will not allow ourselves to be drawn into a low-cost proxy war orchestrated through terror,” said Tewari, stressing India’s resolve to protect its sovereignty and multicultural ethos.
During the talks, the Indian delegation presented detailed accounts and evidence of Pakistan’s continued harboring of terror outfits, underscoring the urgency for global cooperation in dismantling such networks. Operation Sindoor—the targeted military operation launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack—was highlighted as a bold step demonstrating India’s no-nonsense approach to national security.
Qatar’s Shura Council expressed unequivocal solidarity with India, echoing its call for the eradication of terrorism in all forms. The council’s members reaffirmed their commitment to global peace and acknowledged the necessity of isolating states that provide safe havens for extremists.
In addition to parliamentary meetings, the delegation interacted with senior editors of leading Qatari newspapers Al Sharq and Peninsula, articulating India’s counter-terror strategy and diplomatic efforts following the recent Pahalgam attack.
The group also participated in a closed-door session with the Middle East Council for Global Affairs, focusing on policy frameworks to counter terrorism and corruption at an international level.
Supriya Sule, addressing media after the discussions, said, “Qatar shares our concern. There is a shared understanding that terrorism must be uprooted at its source, and nations must come together to uphold peace, security, and integrity.”
As India’s diplomatic engagement in the Gulf deepens, this visit marks a crucial step in galvanizing international support for its zero-tolerance policy on terrorism and defending the nation’s sovereign interests with both conviction and global cooperation.
