India’s All-Party Delegation Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance for Terrorism in South Africa Visit

An Indian all-party Parliamentary delegation, led by Supriya Sule of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction), delivered a strong and unified message of zero tolerance towards terrorism during its official visit to South Africa.

As part of India’s ongoing diplomatic outreach, the delegation met with senior South African lawmakers, including Poobalan Govender, Deputy Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), and Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation, along with other Members of Parliament.

During the discussions, the delegation elaborated on the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and emphasized India’s national consensus against terrorism in all its manifestations. The Indian MPs highlighted the country’s commitment to countering terrorism without escalating regional tensions.

India’s Strategic Messaging on Operation Sindoor

In a statement released by the High Commission of India in Pretoria, the delegation referenced Operation Sindoor—India’s calibrated and proportionate response to recent terror incidents. They stressed the need to dismantle the cross-border terror infrastructure that has threatened India’s peace and sovereignty for decades.

“India’s response was precise, deliberate, and aimed at neutralizing threats while maintaining regional stability,” the statement noted. The delegation underscored that no distinction should be made between terrorists and their enablers, calling for a global effort to eradicate safe havens and financial networks supporting terrorism.

Engagement with Indian Diaspora in South Africa

The delegation’s visit began with a community interaction in Johannesburg, where members met with the Indian diaspora to acknowledge their unwavering support in India’s fight against terrorism. The High Commission posted on social media:
“All-party delegation led by MP Supriya Sule interacted with the Indian community in South Africa. They emphasized India’s collective resolve and commended the diaspora’s support in combatting terrorism.”

Diverse Representation Reflects National Unity

The delegation is part of India’s global diplomatic campaign aimed at raising awareness about cross-border terrorism, particularly sponsored from Pakistan. The team represents a wide political spectrum, including:

  • Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur, and V. Muraleedharan (BJP)
  • Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma (Congress)
  • Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu (TDP)
  • Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney (AAP)
  • Syed Akbaruddin, former Permanent Representative of India to the UN

Earlier, the delegation visited Qatar as part of the broader international engagement initiative and was warmly welcomed in Cape Town by Consul General Ruby Jaspreet for further high-level meetings.

As India strengthens its voice on the global stage against terrorism, this multi-party initiative reflects a rare bipartisan consensus aimed at securing global cooperation and amplifying India’s message of peace and security.
