Delhi Capitals Stay Unbeaten with Seven-Wicket Win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025
In a dominant all-round performance, Delhi Capitals (DC) maintained their unbeaten streak in IPL 2025 by trouncing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. After a stunning bowling performance by Mitchell Starc and Kuldeep Yadav, DC chased down the target of 164 comfortably with four overs to spare.
SRH were bowled out for 163 in just 18.4 overs, thanks to a brilliant 5-35 from Starc and a well-supported 3-22 from Yadav. In response, DC’s vice-captain Faf du Plessis led the chase with an explosive 27-ball fifty, comprising three fours and three sixes at an impressive strike rate of 185.19.
Du Plessis received solid support from Jake Fraser-McGurk (38), KL Rahul (15), Abishek Porel (34*), and Tristan Stubbs (21*), guiding DC to a comfortable victory. For SRH, debutant leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari impressed with figures of 3-42 but could not prevent the inevitable.
The chase began with Fraser-McGurk and du Plessis looking fluent at the crease. Fraser-McGurk’s aggressive hitting, including a slog-sweep for six off Abhishek Sharma, and du Plessis’ powerful strikes, including a six off Mohammed Shami, set the tone. Du Plessis reached his fifty off just 26 balls, but his innings ended when he mistimed a slog to long-on, giving Ansari his first IPL wicket.
Fraser-McGurk continued his attacking play, striking two fours and a six off Ansari before falling to a simple return catch. Rahul briefly entertained with a streaky boundary and a couple of majestic sixes, but he was dismissed for 15 after being bowled by Ansari.
Porel (34*) and Stubbs (21*) guided the team home with composed strokes. Porel’s powerful hitting, including a brilliant six off Mulder, helped DC finish the chase with ease.
