Mitchell Marsh Lauds Team Effort After LSG’s Victory Over SRH in IPL 2025
Mitchell Marsh, the opening all-rounder for Lucknow Super Giants, reflected on his team’s five-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025, following his vital 52 runs. After the game, Marsh expressed his admiration for batting alongside Nicholas Pooran, who delivered a scintillating 70 off just 26 balls at a striking rate of 269.23, leading his team to victory.
Marsh described the experience of partnering with Pooran as “fascinating.” “I’ve played against Nicky (Pooran) for a long time, and usually, I’ve been on the receiving end of such innings. Being on the same team, I feel a great connection with him as a bloke and as someone I’m going to hopefully bat with a lot,” Marsh said. He further explained, “There wasn’t much chat, to be honest. When someone’s in the zone like he was, you just try to build a partnership and keep going. He was almost unstoppable here.”
In addition to Pooran’s explosive knock, Marsh praised Shardul Thakur’s superb bowling performance, where he picked up 4/34, restricting a powerful SRH batting line-up. “Shardul bowled exceptionally well and set the tone for us early on. Against batsmen like Abhishek and Travis Head, you’re under pressure right away, but Shardul used his experience to great effect. He bowled particularly well towards the end.”
Marsh acknowledged the significance of the win, calling it a solid all-round performance. “It was great to start the tournament with a win. It was about focusing on what we’re good at and how we want to go about it. We stuck to our guns really well, and there’s no easy game in the IPL. Every team has a great list, so knocking these guys off will hopefully give us a lot of confidence.”
Marsh also took the time to commend pacer Prince Yadav, who claimed 1/29, including the key wicket of Travis Head. “I’m really proud of Prince in his second IPL game. The way he bowled and executed his plans was impressive, and I’m sure it will give him a lot of confidence moving forward,” he added. Marsh further elaborated on the importance of depth in the tournament, highlighting Yadav’s confidence-building performance early in the competition.
Marsh concluded, “For someone like him to get an opportunity early on and step up for us was really impressive.”
