Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure is advancing an amendment to the “Energy Sources” law, proposing an additional import route that permits the importation of electrical products into Israel based on proof of European market compliance.
This initiative is part of the government’s effort to adopt less stringent European standards for these products, aimed at fostering increased competition and lower prices for Israeli consumers.
Given that all electrical products marketed in Europe are listed in an accessible online registry, this amendment would streamline the import process for all types of importers, eliminating bureaucratic hurdles. It is anticipated to significantly reduce regulatory barriers, lower import costs, and enhance market competition in Israel.
The Ministry predicts that these changes will lead to substantial savings for households, reducing both product prices and electricity expenses. The initiative is branded as, “What benefits electricity consumers in Europe benefits consumers of electrical products in Israel.”
