Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police released a sketch on Tuesday of a terrorist involved in the recent attack on a passenger bus in Reasi district and announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for information leading to his capture.
The attack occurred on Sunday when terrorists opened fire on a 53-seater bus carrying pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi. The bus, en route from the Shiv Khori temple to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, near Teryath village in the Poni area, veered off the road and plunged into a gorge, resulting in the deaths of nine people and injuring 41 others.
“Reasi police announce a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any fruitful information about the whereabouts of the terrorist involved in the recent attack on the yatri bus in the area of Pouni,” a police spokesman stated.
The sketch of the terrorist was developed based on descriptions provided by eyewitnesses. The police have urged the public to come forward with any information they may have.
Intensive efforts to track down the terrorists responsible for the attack continued on Tuesday, with 11 teams of security personnel actively engaged and a comprehensive cordon established around the Ranso-Poni-Treyath belt, officials reported.
