Jadeja’s Half-Century Lifts India to 201/7 on Day 4 of Third Test Against Australia

Ravindra Jadeja’s gritty half-century helped India reach 201/7 at tea on Day 4 of the third Test against Australia at the Gabba on Tuesday. Despite Jadeja’s unbeaten 65, India still trails Australia by 244 runs and needs 45 more to avoid the follow-on.

The rain continued to interrupt play, with the second session delayed and tea being taken early due to a downpour. Jadeja, along with Nitish Kumar Reddy, tackled the Australian pacers effectively, adding 53 runs to the scoreboard before Reddy was dismissed by Pat Cummins in the second session.

The rain break did little to deter Jadeja, who continued to show composure at the crease, though India’s position worsened when Mitchell Starc dismissed Mohammed Siraj for just one run, reducing India to 201/8.

Earlier in the day, India’s top order crumbled as Australia took two crucial wickets. Rohit Sharma fell for 10, and KL Rahul, who had been solid, was dismissed for 84 after Steve Smith’s redemption at first slip. Rahul, however, showed impressive resilience, batting through difficult conditions to score his second half-century of the series.

With the day’s play coming to an early tea, the pressure continues to mount on India to avoid further losses and keep their hopes alive in the match.

Brief Scores:
India 201/7 in 62.2 overs (KL Rahul 84, Ravindra Jadeja 65*; Pat Cummins 3-49) trail Australia 445 (Travis Head 152, Steve Smith 101; Jasprit Bumrah 6-76) by 244 runs.
