YS Jagan Mohan Reddy contested the 2019 general elections independently, without coalition support from other political parties. Despite this, he emerged victorious in the elections and assumed office as the second Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. It has come to light, through recent revelations made by Pawan Kalyan, the Chief of Janasena, that Jagan had expressed interest in forming an alliance with Janasena during that time.
In a recent interview, Pawan Kalyan disclosed that YSRCP leaders had approached him with proposals for an alliance, and various mediators had attempted to facilitate such an arrangement. However, Pawan Kalyan firmly declined any alliance with YSRCP.
Interestingly, Jagan’s interest in forming an alliance with Janasena for the 2024 elections was also revealed by Pawan Kalyan. Despite Jagan’s apparent interest, Pawan Kalyan reiterated his reluctance to engage in an alliance with YSRCP. However, neither YSRCP leaders nor Jagan himself have publicly acknowledged or commented on these discussions.
Presently, Janasena has formed alliances with TDP and BJP, while YSRCP continues to contest elections independently.
