Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy didn’t mince words when he accused TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu of bringing in ‘Delhi mechanics’ to repair his ‘cycle’ — the TDP’s election symbol. In a pointed reference to the TDP’s recent alliance with the Jana Sena Party (JSP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a campaign rally in Rajamahendravaram, Jagan mocked the efforts to revive the TDP’s fortunes.
“Chandrababu Naidu’s cycle was dismantled by the people of Andhra Pradesh in 2019, and now he’s scrambling to fix it with help from the Left, JSP, and ultimately, Delhi’s BJP,” Jagan said at a public meeting in Korukonda, East Godavari district. He accused Naidu of seeking to disrupt the YSR Congress Party’s (YSRCP) welfare schemes ahead of the upcoming elections by conspiring with Delhi allies to create hurdles.
Jagan stressed that the YSRCP’s welfare programs, which are distributed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), were not politically motivated, but had a set schedule with specific budget allocations. He assured the crowd that despite Naidu’s alleged interference, the programs would continue as planned.
“Do you really think the beneficiaries of our welfare pensions will suddenly switch to supporting the TDP because Naidu caused some delays?” Jagan asked, suggesting that the public could see through Naidu’s attempts to undermine the YSRCP’s efforts.
He didn’t stop there. Jagan urged voters to take any cash offered by Naidu for their votes, but to ultimately cast their ballots for the YSRCP. “If Naidu is throwing cash around, remember it’s your money he’s looted in the past,” Jagan said.
The Chief Minister ended on a confident note, asserting that all pending welfare benefits would be cleared within a week of the YSRCP’s return to power. With the election campaign heating up, Jagan’s bold statements are sure to intensify the battle between the YSRCP and TDP as the state heads toward the polls.
