Chandrababu Naidu’s Government Rebrands AP Government Programs
The previous opposition leaders criticized the outgoing Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, for prominently featuring his photo on most school supplies, including even on the peanut barfi given to school children. Additionally, the afternoon meals program was named “Jagananna Gorumuddha.”
The pervasive branding of government programs with the names of Jagan, YSR, and YSR Congress was met with widespread disapproval. As his first order of duty, the newly elected Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, initiated efforts to eliminate this name-centric culture in AP government programs.
The newly formed government of AP has renamed the afternoon meals program from “Jagananna Gorumuddha” to “PM-Poshan Gorumudda.” Strategically, Jagan’s name was removed from the scheme, and the Prime Minister’s name was added. Rather than rebranding it with TDP affiliations, Chandrababu Naidu opted for a more neutral approach, emphasizing the significant funding contribution from the Central government, making “PM Poshan Gorumudda” a more appropriate title.
The government also mandated the continued distribution of eggs and other essential supplies for the afternoon meals program. Furthermore, the Jagan photo on the peanut barfi packaging has been replaced with the AP government emblem.
