Hyderabad: A contentious decision by former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to feature his own photograph on Pattadhar Passbooks has been swiftly reversed by the newly formed TDP+ government. The public had strongly opposed the inclusion of Jagan’s image on land documents, which they felt undermined the historical and personal significance of their property.
In response to widespread criticism, the TDP+ government has removed Jagan’s photo from the passbooks and reinstated the Andhra Pradesh Emblem (Rajamudra) as the official mark on these documents. This move has been hailed as a much-needed correction by the current administration.
Nara Lokesh, a prominent TDP leader, highlighted the financial implications of the previous government’s decision, stating, “The YSRCP government not only plunged our State into a financial crisis but also wasted 700 crore rupees to have the ‘Axe’ CM’s image printed on various documents, including land passbooks. This money was rightfully yours.”
The TDP+ government’s decision to restore the Rajamudra on Pattadhar Passbooks is seen as a gesture to correct what many viewed as an egregious misuse of public resources and restore the dignity associated with land ownership documents.
