The much-anticipated visit of YSR Congress Party President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to Podili has been postponed due to heavy rain forecasts.
Originally scheduled for Wednesday, the visit was intended to address the pressing issues faced by tobacco farmers in the region. The YSR Congress Party issued an official statement confirming the deferment, citing adverse weather conditions as the primary reason. A rescheduled date will be announced once the weather stabilizes, the party added.
Jagan Mohan Reddy had planned to inspect the Podili tobacco auction centre firsthand and interact directly with farmers who have been grappling with the absence of a minimum support price (MSP) for their produce. His visit was expected to bring political focus and potential relief measures to the struggling farming community.
The delay has momentarily paused hopes of immediate redressal, but party sources maintain that the leadership remains committed to addressing the farmers’ concerns at the earliest opportunity.
