India Reaffirms Zero-Tolerance Stand as Jaishankar Backs ‘Operation Sindoor’ Against Terror Targets
Reiterating India’s uncompromising stance on terrorism, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar on Wednesday asserted the nation’s firm resolve in tackling cross-border terror following the launch of a major military offensive dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The high-precision operation was carried out by the Indian Armed Forces in response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians—25 Indians and one Nepali national—in Jammu and Kashmir. Nine terror-linked targets located deep within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were struck overnight in a coordinated action closely monitored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior national security officials.
Taking to social media platform X, EAM Jaishankar posted, “The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism,” reinforcing India’s dual-track approach of strategic military readiness and sustained international diplomacy.
According to official statements from the Indian Army, the targets hit during the operation were terrorist camps and logistical hubs associated with groups operating from within Pakistan’s territory. The military emphasized that the strikes were “focused, measured, and non-escalatory”, carefully calibrated to avoid harm to civilian, military, or economic infrastructure.
Sources confirmed that National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, senior military commanders, and intelligence chiefs maintained real-time communication with the Prime Minister throughout the operation, ensuring strategic oversight and precise execution.
The Indian Army spokesperson underscored the operation’s intent, stating: “Our actions have been focused and precise. We have only targeted terrorist camps from where attacks against India have been planned and executed. Justice is served. Jai Hind.”
Indian intelligence had earlier traced the Pahalgam attack to The Resistance Front (TRF), a known proxy of Lashkar-e-Taiba, operating from Pakistani soil. The government had promised a swift and decisive response, combining military deterrence with international diplomatic outreach.
‘Operation Sindoor’ is seen as one of India’s most significant cross-border military actions since the Balakot airstrikes in 2019, signaling a continuation of India’s proactive counter-terrorism doctrine.
With regional stability at stake, New Delhi is expected to further engage with global partners to build consensus on eliminating safe havens for terrorism and ensuring accountability for cross-border aggression.
