Immediately following the conclusion of the last phase of polling on Saturday, exit polls took center stage across national news channels, captivating political enthusiasts who eagerly awaited insights ahead of the highly anticipated results on June 4th. While all surveys indicated a strong mandate for the BJP at the national level, a majority also favored the NDA alliance in Andhra Pradesh.
Among the leading parties, Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena appeared particularly buoyant due to its impressive performance. Janasena supporters celebrated as exit polls suggested a decisive victory for Pawan Kalyan in the Pithapuram constituency. AARA Mastaan, a trusted psephologist, confirmed Kalyan’s likely entry into the assembly, despite expectations of a YSRCP-led government, bringing significant cheer to Janasena’s ranks.
The Telugu Desam Party, Janasena, and BJP had previously formed a pre-poll alliance aimed at challenging the YSRCP led by Jagan Mohan Reddy. According to exit polls, the NDA alliance is projected to secure over 110 seats in the assembly and more than 18 seats in parliament. The TDP contested 144 seats, Janasena fielded candidates in 21 seats, and BJP contested 10 seats out of a total of 175 assembly seats.
A consistent prediction across multiple surveys is that Janasena is poised to increase its seat count from 1 in 2019 to over 15 in 2024. Most surveys indicate Janasena’s strong performance across all contested seats, with expectations of securing more than 75% of the 21 seats it contested. Moreover, Janasena is anticipated to win both parliamentary seats with substantial margins.
If the actual results align with these projections, Janasena could play a pivotal role in government formation. Regardless of the final outcome, Janasena supporters will likely be satisfied if the party secures over 15 MLAs, including Pawan Kalyan’s seat, and wins both parliamentary seats in the current elections.
