JDU Demands Special State Status for Bihar in National Executive Meeting
Following their ascent to power alongside BJP-led NDA allies, the Janata Dal United (JDU) convened its first national executive meeting and passed a resolution demanding special state status for Bihar.
The party has long advocated for this status, citing economic and developmental disparities. The resolution underscored the necessity of protecting Bihar’s recently increased 65% reservation quota, proposing its inclusion in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution to shield it from judicial review and ensure its uninterrupted implementation.
Addressing the media post-meeting, a senior JDU leader remarked, “The demand for special state status for Bihar is not new. It is a crucial step towards accelerating Bihar’s growth trajectory and addressing the state’s unique challenges.”
