The results of the JEE Advanced 2025—India’s premier engineering entrance examination—were declared on Monday, revealing stories of hard work, focus, and smart preparation. The toppers, while celebrating their success, shared valuable insights into how they tackled one of the country’s most competitive exams.
All-India Rank 1 holder Rajit Gupta attributed his success to consistent effort rather than any extraordinary strategy. “I started preparing in Class 10. My approach was simple—complete the tasks on time and go through every module thoroughly,” he said. Gupta, who scored an impressive 322 out of 360, placed significant emphasis on mastering the NCERT textbooks, particularly for Chemistry. While he supplemented his learning with selective problems from renowned books like H.C. Verma and Irodov, his focus remained on clarity of concepts.
“I never aimed for a fixed number of study hours. I just made sure to fully understand each topic before moving on. And whenever I hit a wall while solving a problem, I would take a break and talk to my younger sister. That quick reset helped me return with a fresh perspective,” he shared. His father, Deepak Gupta, an engineer at BSNL, described their home in Kota as filled with towering stacks of books and endless mock test papers. “There were books literally taller than him,” he laughed.
Sakshyam Jindal, who secured AIR 2, also credited mock test analysis and a focus on weaker areas for his success. Based in Hisar, Haryana, Jindal relocated to Kota two years ago to prepare at the Allen Career Institute, where he studied alongside Gupta. “Mock tests helped me identify gaps in my understanding and allowed me to stay calm under pressure. I was confident in Maths, so I dedicated extra time to Physics and Chemistry,” Jindal explained.
When asked about his future plans, Jindal said he is aiming for IIT Bombay, a preferred choice for many top performers. “As of now, I don’t have any plans to study abroad. My goal is to grow and contribute from here,” he said. With dedication, smart time management, and mental clarity, these toppers have set a benchmark for future aspirants of JEE Advanced. Their success stories stand as a testament to the power of consistency, planning, and a balanced mindset.
