KTR Slams Congress Over Alleged Land Grab in Hyderabad Pharma City Project
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao has leveled serious allegations against the ruling Congress government in Telangana, accusing it of orchestrating a large-scale land scam involving plots allocated as compensation to farmers affected by the Hyderabad Green Pharma City project.
Speaking out on Wednesday, Rama Rao claimed that the Congress government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, had betrayed its pre-election promise to cancel the Pharma City project and return the acquired lands to farmers.
“Mr. Revanth Reddy, you assured the people that if Congress came to power, the Hyderabad Green Pharma City would be scrapped and the lands would be returned to farmers. Not only have you failed to honor this commitment, but your party leaders are now grabbing these lands like vultures,” Rama Rao said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He alleged that plots meant as compensation for displaced farmers are now being registered under the names of Congress leaders, and that these transactions are taking place at rates far below the actual market value.
“Why are these compensatory plots being sold at one-fourth their value? Why are farmers being robbed of their rightful compensation?” he questioned. “Only a shameless government could exploit the very farmers who gave up their land for the state’s development.”
Rama Rao further alleged that this land scandal could run into thousands of crores and questioned the Congress government’s contradictory positions on the Pharma City project. “In public, they claim the project is cancelled. In court, they say it is still on. How can they mislead both the public and the judiciary?” he asked.
Challenging the state government’s proposals for alternate projects like Future City, AI City, and Fourth City, he asked, “Have they even acquired an acre of land for these new ventures? How can they reallocate Pharma City lands without a formal plan or process?”
He reminded that the Pharma City project, initiated under the previous BRS government, involved the acquisition of 14,000 acres and projected investments of Rs 64,000 crore. He emphasized that the land was acquired under a conditional agreement that restricts its repurposing for unrelated developments.
Calling the cancellation of the project a setback for Telangana’s growth, KTR warned that the move could derail industrial progress and lead to the loss of thousands of potential jobs.
“The Congress government is not only stalling development but is actively undermining the trust of farmers and investors alike,” he concluded. Let me know if you’d like a shorter summary for social media or a quote-focused version.
