New Delhi: Kangana Ranaut, actor and politician, criticized those applauding the CISF woman constable accused of assaulting her, questioning if such support extends to justifying “rape or murder.”
Ranaut, in a video message following the incident at Chandigarh airport, alleged she was physically struck and verbally abused by the constable, citing disagreements over her views on farmer protests.
“If you condone invading someone’s personal space, touching their bodies without consent, and assaulting them, then you’re essentially condoning rape or murder, as these acts also involve forceful intrusion,” the 37-year-old stated on social media.
The incident occurred shortly after Ranaut’s election to the Lok Sabha from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. The accused constable, Kulwinder Kaur, has since been suspended, with authorities launching an investigation and a court of inquiry initiated by the CISF, responsible for airport security.
Ranaut, in another post, encouraged followers to embrace yoga and meditation for emotional well-being, advocating against harboring resentment, hate, or jealousy.
Meanwhile, veteran actress Shabana Azmi voiced concern over the incident, asserting that security personnel should uphold the law and avoid taking matters into their own hands. Azmi, while expressing no personal admiration for Ranaut, cautioned against celebrating acts of physical aggression.
Earlier, Ranaut had faced legal action from Azmi’s husband, Javed Akhtar, over alleged defamatory remarks, a case currently under legal proceedings.
