MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has accused the Congress-led Telangana government of attempting to cancel ration cards under a covert agenda. Addressing the media on Saturday, Kavitha alleged that the government is planning to remove nearly 7.24 lakh beneficiaries who did not collect the three-month ration rice distributed in June.
She criticized the Congress for going back on its pre-election promise of issuing ration cards to all eligible citizens. “The same party that pledged to support the poor is now taking measures to strip them of their rights,” she said, condemning the government’s “stubborn and regressive approach.”
In a bid to intensify the protest, Kavitha announced that a ‘Rail Roko’ agitation will be held on July 17 under the banner of Telangana Jagruti, aiming to send a strong message to what she termed as “Delhi rulers.”
In a show of solidarity, Bhim Army Telangana General Secretary Syed Ali Ayaj met Kavitha on Saturday and pledged his organization’s support. During their meeting, Kavitha urged civil society and marginalized communities to rally behind the BC reservation movement, reiterating the need for collective action to safeguard public welfare entitlements.
