New Delhi: Indian all-rounder Kedar Jadhav announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Monday, June 3, through a heartfelt social media post.
In a video montage featuring highlights from his career set to the backdrop of Kishore Kumar’s song “Zindagi Ke Safar Mein,” the 39-year-old expressed his gratitude to fans and supporters. The caption accompanying the video read, “Thank you all For your love and support throughout my Career from 1500 hrs. Consider me as retired from all forms of cricket.”
Jadhav made his One Day International (ODI) debut for India on November 16, 2014, against Sri Lanka, followed by his debut in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) against Zimbabwe on July 17, 2015.
During his international career, Jadhav, known for his batting prowess and handy off-spin bowling, notably featured in the 2019 World Cup squad. He amassed 1389 runs and claimed 27 wickets in 73 ODIs. In T20Is, he accumulated 122 runs across 9 matches, achieving a highest score of 58.
Coincidentally, Jadhav’s retirement announcement on social media bore similarities to that of former India captain MS Dhoni’s retirement note on Instagram. Dhoni also shared a montage of career highlights set to a Bollywood song, “Main pal do pal ka shayar hoon,” with a caption stating, “Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout, from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired.”
