Keerthy Suresh-Starrer ‘Uppu Kappurambu’ to Premiere on Prime Video from July 4
The upcoming Telugu-language satire Uppu Kappurambu, starring National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh, is set to premiere on Prime Video on July 4. Directed by Ani I.V. Sasi, the film promises a quirky, heartfelt take on serious societal issues through the lens of satire.
Produced by Radhika Lavu under the banner of Ellanar Films Pvt Ltd, the film features a talented ensemble cast including Suhas, Babu Mohan, Shatru, and Talluri Rameshwari, alongside Keerthy Suresh.
Set in the fictional South Indian village of Chitti Jayapuram during the 1990s, Uppu Kappurambu explores the chaos that unfolds when the village’s burial infrastructure comes under strain. Blending humor, nostalgia, and social commentary, the film offers a coming-of-age story that is both absurd and insightful.
“Uppu Kappurambu draws from a world I’ve long wanted to bring to the screen,” said director Ani I.V. Sasi. “It uses satire to explore how everyday people tackle extraordinary challenges with limited resources and a limitless spirit. We’ve taken a serious issue and told it in a cartoonish, playful way—with real meaning beneath the humor.”
Prime Video announced the release on Monday morning via Instagram, unveiling a vibrant poster that teases the offbeat world of Chitti Jayapuram. The caption read, “Get ready for this heartwarming ride with the citizens of Chitti Jayapuram. #UppuKappuRambuOnPrime – New Movie, July 4.” The film will be available in Telugu with dubbed versions in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, aiming to reach a broad audience across India and beyond.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video India, added, “Uppu Kappurambu is a delightfully offbeat satire that captures the essence of rural India with humor and heart. We’re thrilled to present Ani I.V. Sasi’s creative vision and bring this unique story to global audiences.”
