In New Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Monday that he anticipates a return to Tihar jail on June 5 should the INDIA bloc emerge victorious following the announcement of election results.
Kejriwal, currently out on interim bail granted by the Supreme Court until June 1 for campaigning in the Lok Sabha elections, is scheduled to surrender and resume custody on June 2.
June 1 marks the culmination of the seven-phase elections, with the counting of votes slated for June 4.
Speaking to Aam Aadmi Party councillors, Kejriwal recounted perceived attempts to undermine him during his judicial custody in Tihar, citing surveillance measures within his cell and alleging monitoring by government authorities, including the Prime Minister’s Office.
Expressing confidence in the AAP’s standing among the electorate, Kejriwal asserted that the party’s accomplishments have instilled fear in the BJP.
Acknowledging his imminent return to jail, Kejriwal remarked that he would observe the election outcome from confinement, with a potential release contingent upon the electoral success of the INDIA bloc.
During a prior meeting with party MLAs on Sunday, Kejriwal commended their resilience amidst challenges following his arrest, noting the party’s cohesion in the face of adversity.
