Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Rejects Allegations from MLA P V Anvar
Thiruvananthapuram – Following a day of heated accusations, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has firmly denied the claims made by Left independent MLA P V Anvar, labeling them as an “attempt to malign and defame” the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) in the state.
In a press conference held in the national capital, Vijayan stated that Anvar’s comments clearly indicate his intention to distance himself from the LDF, noting, “He made his intention clear by his statements. He announced he was keeping away from the LDF and will not attend its parliamentary party meeting in the state assembly.”
The Chief Minister rejected Anvar’s allegations, describing them as unfounded and suggesting that they mirrored criticisms typically voiced by the opposition against the LDF government. He emphasized that these remarks would not hinder ongoing investigations related to the complaints raised by Anvar.
Anvar, who represents the Nilambur assembly constituency, has effectively severed his ties with the ruling coalition. He accused Vijayan of misleading the public and called for the Chief Minister to relinquish his responsibilities overseeing the Home department.
In a bold challenge, Anvar demanded that Vijayan initiate a reinvestigation into approximately 180 gold smuggling cases in Kerala, claiming that the police have failed to adhere to proper procedures during seizures from individuals involved in these illegal activities. In a pointed criticism, he referred to Vijayan as a “cheat,” expressing frustration over what he perceives as broken promises regarding his allegations against ADGP M R Ajithkumar and the Chief Minister’s political secretary, P Sasi.
