Congress President Criticizes PM Modi’s Remarks, Highlights Socioeconomic Factors Behind Family Size
Janjgir-Champa: During a rally in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday rebuked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his exclusive focus on certain societal issues, particularly concerning Muslims. Kharge asserted that the economic conditions of the poor contribute to larger family sizes, rejecting Modi’s narrative that emphasizes religious considerations.
Kharge, campaigning for Shivkumar Dahariya, Congress’ candidate from Janjgir-Champa Lok Sabha constituency, accused the BJP of pursuing electoral victories, aiming for over 400 Lok Sabha seats, not to uplift the disadvantaged but to erode their rights.
Addressing concerns raised by Modi about redistributing wealth to larger families, Kharge countered, citing his own family background to illustrate socioeconomic factors influencing family size. He criticized Modi’s portrayal of Congress policies, labeling them as misleading and aimed at dividing communities.
Kharge refuted Modi’s claims of Congress’ intentions to seize personal assets, highlighting the party’s historical governance record. He accused Modi of distorting facts and diverting attention from substantive issues affecting the nation.
Kharge expressed concerns over healthcare during the COVID-19 pandemic, alleging negligence by the Union government in addressing vaccine-related health complications. He emphasized the significance of safeguarding India’s unity, constitution, and democratic principles, cautioning against divisive politics.
Kharge questioned the necessity for RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to clarify the organization’s stance on constitutional amendments and reservations, attributing such clarifications to BJP leaders’ earlier statements.
In conclusion, Kharge criticized the Modi government’s economic policies, alleging favoritism towards industrialists while neglecting the welfare of marginalized communities. He invoked the legacies of past Congress leaders who contributed to India’s freedom struggle and socioeconomic development.
The upcoming polling in Janjgir-Champa on May 7 serves as a critical juncture for political discourse and decision-making.
