New Delhi: Kia India reported a sales figure of 19,500 units in May, marking a growth of over 3.9 percent year-on-year compared to 18,766 units in the same month last year.
Additionally, the automaker dispatched 2,304 units from India to international markets during the month, resulting in a total production of 21,804 units for Kia.
In a statement, Kia announced that it has surpassed the milestone of exporting 250,000 units to over 100 countries.
The Seltos model accounted for the majority of exports, representing nearly 60 percent of the total, followed by Sonet at 34 percent and Carens at 7 percent.
Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing at Kia India, commented, “With a robust network expansion strategy in place, we are poised for continued growth throughout the year and anticipate crossing the 1 million domestic sales milestone soon.”
Since its launch in January 2024, the new Sonet emerged as the top-selling model for Kia India in May, achieving sales of 7,433 units. Seltos and Carens followed closely with sales of 6,736 and 5,316 units, respectively.
Brar added, “We have aggressively introduced new competitive variants of our models this year, which have significantly bolstered our sales performance.”
Kia India has sold over 980,000 units in the domestic market to date, with Seltos contributing nearly 50 percent of the total.
Established in August 2019, Kia India operates with an annual production capacity of 300,000 units.
