Hyderabad: BRS Leaders File Complaint with Telangana DGP Over Alleged Political Violence and Police Negligence
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR), accompanied by senior party members, lodged a formal complaint with the Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana, raising serious allegations of political violence and police negligence.
The BRS complaint centers on an alleged attack by Congress party cadres on a BRS protest camp in Tirumalagiri, Suryapet District, which occurred yesterday. According to the BRS, the peaceful farmers’ protest, organized under the leadership of student leader and former Tungaturthi MLA Gadari Kishore, was violently disrupted by approximately 50 Congress cadres, who were reportedly intoxicated. The assailants allegedly used stones, eggs, and crude bombs in their attack.
KTR condemned the violence and expressed frustration with the police response, accusing them of dismantling the protest camp’s tent rather than safeguarding the demonstrators. “Had our people retaliated, not a single one of those 50 Congress goons would have survived. But we chose to maintain peace and refrained from any counteractions,” KTR stated.
The complaint also highlights attacks on two female journalists and other reporters in Kondareddypally, who were investigating loan waiver status. According to the BRS, these journalists faced indecent assaults by Congress workers. KTR denounced the attacks and criticized Congress supporters for their alleged role in malicious social media campaigns against the journalists.
KTR also took aim at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, demanding an apology and accusing him of avoiding public accountability while frequently traveling to Delhi. “When we challenged him to discuss loan waivers anywhere, he didn’t show up. Instead, he has traveled to Delhi 20 times,” KTR remarked.
The BRS leaders expressed grave concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, particularly in Hyderabad, citing recent reports of 28 murders within a month. KTR criticized the chief minister’s handling of the city’s safety and warned of potential consequences if the situation does not improve.
The BRS delegation urged the DGP to take immediate and stringent action against those involved in the Tirumalagiri attack and the assaults on journalists. They stressed the need for impartial and responsible conduct by the police to maintain law and order in the state.
“We sympathize with the police force, but it’s unacceptable for some officers to misuse their authority,” KTR said. The BRS leaders’ call for action reflects their broader concerns about the increasing political violence and perceived police bias in Telangana.
