BJYM Leader Calls for ‘Ghar Wapsi’ for Non-Hindus Attending Dandiya Event in Hyderabad
Laddu Yadav, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) president in charge of Hyderabad, has sparked controversy by stating that non-Hindus wishing to participate in the upcoming Dandiya event in the city must first undergo “Ghar Wapsi,” a term referring to the conversion of non-Hindus to Hinduism. His remarks follow allegations that Muslim youths were present at the Namdhari Gaurav Navratri Utsav held at SS Convention in Shamshabad.
In a post on his X handle, Yadav questioned the organizers’ decision to allow participation from individuals of other faiths, expressing concerns over the potential dilution of Hindu traditions. “What kind of message are they trying to convey? Why allow individuals who neither follow our traditions nor respect our deities?” he wrote, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the essence of Hindu festivals.
Yadav further alleged that “ninety percent of the security guards and bouncers at the event are non-Hindus,” which he claims undermines the values of Hindutva. He urged the Hindu community to boycott the Namdhari Dandiya Utsav, asserting that it is more focused on commercial interests than on preserving cultural values.
The comments have sparked discussions about religious inclusion and the cultural significance of such events, as the Dandiya celebration is traditionally a Hindu festival marked by dance and music. As tensions rise, the community’s response will likely play a significant role in shaping the event’s atmosphere and participation.
