Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s wife, Nara Bhuvaneswari, strongly condemned the alleged derogatory remarks made by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy against Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy.
Taking to social media platform X on Wednesday, Bhuvaneswari expressed her solidarity with the MLA from Kovvur and denounced the former Kovur legislator’s comments.
“I stand in solidarity with Kovvur MLA Smt. Prashanthi Reddy Garu and firmly condemn the derogatory remarks made against her. Such statements reflect a deep-rooted, troubling anti-woman mindset that has no place in our society,” wrote Bhuvaneswari, who also serves as Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director of Heritage Foods Limited.
“Women lead with strength, integrity, and merit. Derogatory words cannot diminish our worth or break our spirit. Our culture values and upholds respect for women, and any attempt to undermine that must be collectively rejected,” she added. Bhuvaneswari’s sister and BJP MP from Rajahmundry, Daggubati Purandeswari, also issued a sharp rebuke.
“Inappropriate comments by someone who has been elected as MLA six times are unacceptable in a civilised society,” she said, demanding a public apology from Prasanna Kumar Reddy. “If his wife or mother finds his comments acceptable, only then will I withdraw my demand,” she added.Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also denounced the remarks, calling them “utterly disgusting” and pledged strict legal action against those who mistreat women.
“There is no change in the behavior of YSRCP leaders. Insulting women, using abusive language, and belittling them seems to be the party’s political ideology,” Naidu stated on X.
He further accused the YSRCP of fostering a culture of personal attacks on women, saying, “Humiliating women and engaging in character assassination is deeply ingrained in the DNA of the YSRCP. This mindset was a key reason behind their crushing electoral defeat, yet they refuse to change.”
“Are these people even human? Is this what politics has become?” he asked, calling on citizens to recognize what he described as a systematic effort to undermine the dignity of women.
