On the occasion of Buddha Purnima, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his warm wishes to citizens, emphasizing that the life and teachings of Lord Buddha continue to inspire the world towards greater compassion and peace. Buddha Purnima, celebrated worldwide by Buddhists, marks the birth, enlightenment, and death (Mahaparinirvana) of Gautama Buddha, and is observed on the full moon day of Vaisakh in the Hindu calendar.
In his message shared on X, PM Modi said, “Best wishes to all countrymen on Buddha Purnima. Lord Buddha’s messages, rooted in truth, equality, and harmony, continue to guide humanity. His life of sacrifice and penance will forever inspire the global community towards peace and compassion.”
Other prominent leaders also shared heartfelt messages. Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to social media, saying, “Happy Buddha Purnima to everyone. Lord Buddha’s message of equality, unity, and non-violence through knowledge, compassion, and wisdom is a beacon for human society. May his blessings bring happiness and peace to all.”
Union Minister J.P. Nadda added, “On this Buddha Purnima, I extend my warmest greetings to all the countrymen. Lord Buddha’s teachings of compassion, non-violence, and peace continue to light the path for humanity.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reflected on the spiritual significance of the day in his post, writing, “On Buddha Purnima, I bow to Mahatma Buddha, the symbol of peace, wisdom, and compassion. His timeless teachings guide humanity toward self-realization, harmony, and righteousness.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also extended his greetings, encouraging people to embrace the wisdom of Lord Buddha. “Congratulations to all citizens on Buddha Purnima. Lord Buddha’s life of self-realization and service inspires us all to build a peaceful society,” he said.
