Nara Lokesh Pursues Defamation Case Against Sakshi Media in Vizag Court
Nara Lokesh, a prominent political figure, is intensifying his legal battle against Sakshi Media, a media house closely associated with the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YCP). Lokesh is set to appear today at the 12th Additional Court in Visakhapatnam for a hearing in a criminal defamation case he initiated back in 2019.
The case stems from a newspaper report published by Sakshi Media, which alleged that Lokesh, the former minister, spent ₹25 lakh on snacks at Vizag Airport. Outraged by the claim, Lokesh filed a defamation suit seeking ₹75 crore in damages, asserting that the article was a deliberate attempt to tarnish his public image.
As the hearing unfolds, Sakshi Media will be required to provide a legal justification for its report. Failure to do so could result in significant financial repercussions, potentially exceeding the ₹75 crore claimed by Lokesh in this high-profile case.
The outcome of today’s proceedings could have major implications for both Lokesh and Sakshi Media, as it reflects the ongoing tensions in the political landscape of Andhra Pradesh.
