Lucknow Super Giants Meet UP CM Yogi Adityanath Ahead of IPL 2025 Season
As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season draws closer, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team paid a courtesy visit to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday. The meeting, which was attended by LSG team owner Sanjiv Goenka and captain Rishabh Pant, saw the Chief Minister extend his best wishes to the team for the upcoming IPL season.
During the meeting, CM Yogi Adityanath commended the Lucknow Super Giants for their impressive performances in previous seasons, highlighting their talent, discipline, and sportsmanship. He expressed confidence in the team’s potential, praising their commitment to the game. “Lucknow Super Giants have showcased remarkable performances in previous seasons. This team represents dedication, discipline, and the true spirit of the game. I am hopeful that this season, too, the players will demonstrate their skills and make the state proud,” he remarked.
Several key players and coaching staff members, including captain Rishabh Pant, Aryan Juyal, Himmat Singh, Abdul Samad, and others, were present at the meeting, which underscored the collective commitment of the team and its management ahead of the new season.
LSG’s first match of the IPL 2025 season will be against Delhi Capitals, a team formerly captained by Pant, on March 24 at the ACAVDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
The Lucknow Super Giants have had a strong showing in the IPL in recent years, reaching the playoffs in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, though they were eliminated in the Eliminator both times. However, in IPL 2024, the team finished seventh in the points table, a position they will look to improve upon this year.
Rishabh Pant, who was acquired by LSG for a record ₹27 crore during the mega auction last year, becomes the fourth captain in the franchise’s history. Pant replaces KL Rahul, Nicholas Pooran, and Krunal Pandya as the team’s leader. This will be Pant’s second stint as an IPL captain, after leading Delhi Capitals from 2021 to 2024, except for the 2023 season, during which he missed the tournament due to recovery from injuries sustained in a car accident in December 2022.
As the IPL 2025 season approaches, all eyes are on the Lucknow Super Giants and their new leadership under Rishabh Pant, with fans hoping for a successful campaign.
