Vote Counting Begins for Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly Elections Amid Fierce Contest

The vote counting for the critical assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand began today at 8 a.m., with both states witnessing intense competition between the BJP-led NDA alliance and the opposition INDIA bloc.

Maharashtra Assembly Elections Maharashtra, with 288 seats at stake, sees the Mahayuti alliance—comprising BJP, Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP—challenging the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), a coalition of Congress, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sharad Pawar’s NCP. Exit polls suggest the Mahayuti alliance holds a significant lead. Key candidates include Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Jharkhand Assembly Elections In Jharkhand, with 81 seats up for grabs, the ruling JMM-led INDIA bloc is looking to retain power against the BJP-led NDA, which is contesting 68 seats. Exit polls indicate a possible edge for the NDA, while some foresee a hung assembly. Key figures include Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

By-Elections The counting also includes by-elections for 15 assembly seats across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, and Uttarakhand, where both alliances are hoping to secure enough seats to form the next government.

As results unfold, political leaders and voters alike await the outcome of these high-stakes elections.
