Mahesh Babu Served ED Notice Over ₹5.9 Crore Deal with Sai Surya Developers
Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu has been served a notice by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an ongoing investigation into the financial dealings of Sai Surya Developers and the Surana Group. The actor has been summoned to appear before the agency on April 27 for questioning.
The ED’s action follows searches conducted last week at premises linked to Sai Surya Developers and the Surana Group. According to sources, the probe revealed that Mahesh Babu received a total payment of ₹5.9 crore for promotional activities associated with Sai Surya Developers—₹3.5 crore in cash and ₹2.5 crore via Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS).
The actor, along with his wife and children, had featured in an advertisement campaign for Sai Surya Developers, which the ED believes significantly influenced investor decisions.
Officials clarified that Mahesh Babu is not accused of any direct involvement in fraudulent activities. However, his endorsement is under scrutiny as investors reportedly relied on his credibility before investing in the company’s real estate offerings. The ED is now closely examining the nature of the cash payments made to him as part of its larger money laundering investigation.
The case stems from multiple FIRs filed by the Telangana Police against Sai Surya Developers and Surana Group. The developers have been accused of defrauding buyers by selling plots in unapproved layouts, reselling the same plots to multiple customers, and making false promises about property registration.
The ED investigation aims to track financial irregularities, including possible money laundering and tax evasion. While Mahesh Babu’s legal team has not yet issued an official statement, the developments have stirred significant attention in both entertainment and legal circles.
The case is expected to have wider ramifications as more details emerge regarding celebrity endorsements and financial accountability.
