Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Approves Key Decisions on Capital, Welfare, and Development Initiatives
In a pivotal meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approved a series of important decisions encompassing governance, infrastructure, welfare, and regional development. The comprehensive session marked a strategic shift toward reaffirming Amaravati’s role as the capital, expanding welfare initiatives, and enhancing state administration.
Amaravati Reaffirmed as Capital
Among the most significant outcomes of the meeting was the cabinet’s formal approval to designate Amaravati as the official capital of Andhra Pradesh, as outlined under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. A resolution to this effect will be sent to the Central Government, reinforcing the state’s commitment to developing Amaravati as its administrative and political center.
The cabinet also approved land allocations to various institutions within the Amaravati capital region, aligning with decisions made during the 47th meeting of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA).
Support for National Initiatives and Armed Forces
The Cabinet passed a resolution lauding the Indian Armed Forces for the successful execution of “Operation Sindhoora” and extended its appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating reconstruction work in Amaravati. These gestures underscore the state’s alignment with national security initiatives and developmental priorities.
Welfare Programs and Administrative Protocols
Deliberations included key welfare schemes such as Talli Ki Vandhanam and Annadata Sukhibhava, which aim to empower women and support farmers respectively. The cabinet discussed strengthening these programs and implementing additional support mechanisms, particularly in the coastal regions and areas near defence-related industries.
In the wake of Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit, the cabinet also reviewed event management protocols. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reportedly instructed officials to maintain seating arrangements as per protocol, ensuring clear distinctions between central and state ministers. He further directed that Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan be seated beside him at future official functions, highlighting the importance of coordination and decorum.
Institutional and Infrastructure Development
The cabinet approved the establishment of Jala Harathi Corporation under the Companies Act, a new body within the Water Resources Department aimed at managing water conservation efforts. As part of farmer-supportive measures, the cabinet authorized the free transport of silt from state reservoirs to agricultural lands.
Additional approvals included:
- Formation of an Urban Design Planning Cell under Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to enhance temple-town infrastructure.
- Introduction of employment-linked incentives for tourism-related projects to promote job creation and investment in the hospitality sector.
Forward-Looking Governance
This latest cabinet meeting signals a renewed push by the Andhra Pradesh government to prioritize long-term planning, welfare delivery, and strategic capital development. By addressing both symbolic and functional aspects of governance—from honoring national military action to streamlining protocol and accelerating capital region development—the Naidu-led administration has reinforced its roadmap for inclusive and accountable governance.
