Swati Maliwal Criticizes AAP for Alleged Betrayal of INDIA Bloc in Haryana Elections
New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing it of undermining the Congress and betraying the INDIA Bloc during the Haryana elections. Maliwal alleged that AAP’s entry into the electoral fray was solely aimed at damaging the Congress Party’s prospects, thus threatening the unity of the Opposition coalition.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Maliwal stated in Hindi, “The party entered Haryana only to weaken the Congress. It falsely accused me of being a BJP agent, and today it itself is betraying the India Bloc and splitting votes of the INC!” She emphasized that AAP’s strategic candidate placements, such as in constituencies like Vinesh Phogat’s, were intended to harm the Congress rather than focus on defeating the BJP.
Maliwal further lamented, “Why has the situation reached such a pass that you are not able to save your deposits in your home state? There is still time, give up your ego, remove the veil from your blurry eyes, and work for the people.” Her comments come in the wake of early election trends that show the BJP leading with 39.24 percent of the vote share, closely followed by Congress at 40.25 percent, while AAP trails significantly with only 1.54 percent.
As of now, the Election Commission of India indicates that the BJP is leading in 48 seats in the 90-member Haryana Assembly, compared to Congress’s 35 seats. Other regional parties, including the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), are struggling, each leading in only one seat.
Maliwal’s remarks highlight the growing tension within the opposition ranks as the electoral battle in Haryana intensifies.
