New Delhi: Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, did not attend the summons from the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Friday regarding the alleged assault on AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal.
The NCW had requested Kumar’s presence at 11 am but reported that he was not available when their team visited his residence on Thursday to deliver the notice.
“Despite attempts, Kumar’s wife declined to accept the notice. Our team, accompanied by police, revisited his residence today. If he fails to appear before the NCW by tomorrow, I will personally visit his residence,” stated NCW chief Rekha Sharma during a press briefing.
Earlier, on Monday morning, Maliwal filed a complaint at the Civil Lines police station alleging assault by a member of Kejriwal’s staff at the chief minister’s official residence, as confirmed by police authorities.
The NCW initiated action based on media reports titled “Ex-DCW chief Swati Maliwal accuses Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary of assaulting her,” where Maliwal detailed being subjected to severe assault at the chief minister’s residence by Kumar.
Delhi Police have since registered an FIR related to the incident, naming Kumar as a suspect in the case, according to officials.
