Smriti Mandhana Climbs to No. 2 in ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings

India’s star opener, Smriti Mandhana, has risen to second place in the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings, climbing three spots after a series of standout performances. Mandhana also made strides in the T20I rankings, moving up one place to third.

Her ascent in the rankings comes after impressive displays in recent matches against Australia and the West Indies. Mandhana made a significant impact with a stunning 105 in the final ODI of the ICC Women’s Championship series against Australia in Perth. She followed this with a vital 54 in the opening T20I against the West Indies in Navi Mumbai, further bolstering her standing.

Other Indian players also saw movement in the latest ICC women’s player rankings. India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, surged into the top 10 of the T20I batting rankings, while Jemimah Rodrigues jumped six places to 15th, thanks to a brilliant 73 in the T20I opener. Deepti Sharma continued her excellent form, climbing two places to second in the T20I bowling rankings, and maintaining her crucial role as a top all-rounder for India.

Arundhati Reddy made significant progress in the ODI bowling rankings, leaping 48 places to 51st after a stellar performance, taking 4 wickets for 26 runs. India’s pace spearhead, Renuka Thakur, also improved her position, rising to joint-26th in the ODI bowling rankings.

The rankings update also saw some notable changes for other international players. England’s Tammy Beaumont moved up two spots to 11th in the ODI batting rankings following an unbeaten 65 against South Africa, while Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner climbed to 16th in the ODI batting rankings after a match-winning 50 and moved to third in the ODI bowling rankings. Gardner also reached second place in the all-rounder rankings after a match-winning performance with 5 wickets for 30 runs in Perth.

In the ODI bowling rankings, South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp rose to fourth after an impressive 3-24 against England, while England bowlers Charlie Dean, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Lauren Bell all improved their standings.

Additionally, India’s Titas Sadhu entered the ODI rankings at 52nd after an impressive debut series, further highlighting the depth of talent in the Indian squad.

West Indies players also saw improvements, with Deandra Dottin climbing 21 places to 59th in the T20I batting rankings, while Qiana Joseph moved up 22 places to 65th, and Karishma Ramharack improved six spots to 20th in the T20I bowling rankings.

This latest ICC rankings update highlights the rise of Indian women cricketers and the continued global competition among the sport’s top talents.
