Châteauroux: Manu Bhaker displayed remarkable composure, while Sarabjot Singh provided perfect support as the Indian pair secured the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Olympics on Tuesday. Their victory over South Korea with a score of 16-10 marked a historic achievement for India, earning the nation its second medal of the Games.
This win made Bhaker the first Indian athlete post-independence to claim two medals in a single edition of the Olympics. She had previously won a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the same venue.
The last Indian to achieve a dual-medal feat was British-Indian Norman Pritchard, who won two silver medals in the 200m sprint and 200m hurdles at the 1900 Olympics, a remarkable achievement from the pre-Independence era.
