Hyderabad: The implementation of rooftop solar panel installations on government school buildings in Telangana confronts potential delays, thereby prolonging the attainment of enhanced energy efficiency in educational institutions statewide.
N Janaiah, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO), cited the enforcement of the election model code of conduct as a primary cause for setbacks in the installation process.
Initially conceived under the ‘Mana Ooru-Mana Badi’ program, the initiative aimed to equip 1,521 school buildings across 12 districts with solar panels.
Despite progress made in installing solar panels on more than 500 school buildings, the completion of the remaining installations is anticipated to span several additional months.
Originally, approximately 500 schools were scheduled to gain access to solar energy by March 2023; however, unforeseen circumstances have resulted in project timeline delays.
