Middle East Condemns Israel’s Massive Strikes on Iran: Regional Stability at Stake

Israel’s sweeping military assault on Iranian nuclear and military infrastructure has ignited a wave of condemnation across the Middle East, with governments warning that the escalation poses a grave threat to both regional and global stability.

In an official statement, Tunisia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the strike “a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and security,” cautioning that continued aggression could destabilize the broader region and jeopardize international peace. The ministry expressed full solidarity with the Iranian people and urged the United Nations Security Council to intervene swiftly and decisively to halt the hostilities and uphold international law.

Libya’s Foreign Ministry also issued a strong rebuke, describing Israel’s overnight air raids as a “serious escalation” that undermines efforts to maintain peace. The statement stressed the need for all involved parties to pursue peaceful resolution through diplomacy and dialogue rather than force.

Meanwhile, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein held emergency consultations with his Egyptian and Jordanian counterparts, Badr Abdelatty and Ayman Safadi, during which the ministers condemned what they termed Israel’s “military aggression.” They reiterated the importance of reviving negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and emphasized the urgency of de-escalation.

High-Profile Casualties and Widespread Damage

According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Friday’s operation targeted nearly 100 sites across Iran, including strategic locations in Tehran, Natanz, Khondab, and Khorramabad. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated the aim was to dismantle Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, ballistic missile production, and military command systems.

Iranian state media confirmed widespread damage and civilian casualties, including the deaths of women and children in a residential district of Tehran. The assault also reportedly claimed the lives of several senior military officials:

  • Hossein Salami, Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)
  • Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces
  • Gholam Ali Rashid, Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters

In addition, two prominent Iranian nuclear scientists, Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi and Fereydoun Abbasi, were also reported killed, signaling what analysts describe as a direct hit on Iran’s scientific and strategic leadership.

Regional Fallout and Calls for Diplomacy

The scale and precision of the operation, coupled with high-profile fatalities, have alarmed regional observers and prompted urgent calls for restraint. Diplomats fear that further escalation could trigger a broader regional conflict involving multiple state and non-state actors.

As tensions rise, global actors are being urged to mediate and de-escalate through diplomatic channels. The coming days will likely test the resilience of diplomatic ties and the efficacy of international conflict resolution mechanisms.
