India’s Stunning Win: Amit Shah, Rahul Gandhi, and Others Celebrate Kohli’s Century Against Pakistan in Champions Trophy
Indian Home Minister Amit Shah and other top political leaders hailed Team India’s brilliant six-wicket win over Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
Virat Kohli led the charge with an elegant, unbeaten 100 off 111 balls, guiding India to chase down Pakistan’s target of 242 in just 42.3 overs. His knock was instrumental in ensuring India became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals.
With the ball, India dominated early. Kuldeep Yadav (3-40) and Hardik Pandya (2-31) helped bowl Pakistan out for 241 in 49.4 overs. Despite the sluggish pitch, Kohli and Shreyas Iyer (56 off 67 balls) set the chase on course, with a pivotal 114-run partnership.
Politicians from across the spectrum lauded the team’s performance. Amit Shah shared his enthusiasm on social media, saying, “An electrifying performance!! Well played Team India. You have made everyone proud by living up to the expectations of millions of cricket fans around the world. All my best wishes for your future matches. #ChampionsTrophy.”
Rahul Gandhi also celebrated the win, writing, “Epic triumph for Team India! A masterclass in teamwork and resilience, with Kohli’s century leading the charge. A glorious win for every heart that beats for Indian cricket! #INDvsPAK #ChampionsTrophy.”
Mamata Banerjee joined the celebrations, saying, “Feeling happy at the emphatic win of our boys today over Pakistan in ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Congratulations to the India Team for the sweeping victory in the prestige match!”
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal also praised Kohli’s knock, calling it a “brilliant teamwork performance.” He also congratulated Kohli for reaching the fastest 14,000 ODI runs milestone, adding, “Wishing our boys the best for their upcoming matches.”
India’s chase saw a blazing start from Rohit Sharma, who became the sixth player to cross 9,000 ODI runs as an opener. However, Shaheen Afridi struck early, sending him back. Shubman Gill added 46 runs, but it was Kohli’s sublime knock that anchored the chase.
Kohli’s milestone century was achieved with a boundary, raising his bat to the ecstatic crowd. Pakistan, despite a solid partnership between Saud Shakeel (62) and Mohammad Rizwan (46), faltered in the latter half of their innings, finishing with just 241 runs.
India’s dominant performance left Pakistan with two losses, pushing them to the brink of elimination.
