Prime Minister Narendra Modi will spearhead the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) celebrations from Visakhapatnam on Saturday morning, highlighting India’s growing influence in the global wellness movement. The national-level event, set against the scenic RK Beach, will run from 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., reflecting this year’s theme: “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The theme underscores the deep connection between individual well-being and planetary health.
Joining the Prime Minister at the coastal venue will be Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav, and other dignitaries.
The event forms the core of ‘Yoga Sangam,’ a nationwide initiative witnessing mass yoga demonstrations at over 10 lakh locations across India. Andhra Pradesh alone has mobilised nearly 2 crore participants across 1 lakh-plus sites, aiming to set a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest synchronised yoga sessio In a massive show of inclusivity, more than 50 lakh yoga participation certificates will be distributed to registered individuals — a reflection of both scale and engagement.
As a unique prelude, on June 20, 25,000 tribal students gathered at Andhra University to perform 108 Surya Namaskars in 108 minutes, showcasing the growing grassroots embrace of yoga across all communities and age groups.
Celebrations extend far beyond Andhra Pradesh. In New Delhi, yoga events are being held at 109 venues, including a flagship session at the Red Fort, jointly organised by Brahma Kumaris, the Ministry of Ayush, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, and the Archaeological Survey of India.
In Jodhpur, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is leading a parallel yoga session at the iconic Mehrangarh Fort, adding a strong cultural and historical flavor to the celebrations.
Ahead of the event, Prime Minister Modi reached out directly to village leaders across India, writing letters to all Gram Pradhans, encouraging citizens to adopt yoga as a transformative daily practice. As millions unite through breath and movement, International Yoga Day 2025 reaffirms India’s role as a torchbearer in the global pursuit of health, harmony, and sustainable living.
