PM Modi Honored in Brazil with Devotional Performance, Highlights Deepening India-Brazil Strategic Partnership
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a grand ceremonial welcome at the Alvorada Palace in Brasília, including a heartfelt rendition of a Ram Bhajan, ahead of his official talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The visit marked a significant step in enhancing bilateral ties between India and Brazil.
The External Affairs Ministry shared a 2.48-minute video of the special welcome on X (formerly Twitter), where classical vocalist Meeta Ravindra Kumar Karahe is seen performing a devotional composition in honor of PM Modi. The Prime Minister, accompanied by President Lula, was seen enjoying the performance and gently clapping along with the melody.
Speaking to IANS, Meeta expressed her gratitude and explained that the invitation came from the Brazilian government. “President Lula specifically wanted someone from India to perform a devotional song that the Prime Minister would appreciate,” she said. Describing Brazil as “a second India” in terms of culture and warmth, Meeta added that the people’s hospitality reminded her of home.
PM Modi, who arrived in Brazil following his participation in the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, was received warmly by President Lula. Their discussions focused on elevating cooperation across key sectors such as trade, clean energy, sustainable development, climate action, defence, agriculture, and digital public infrastructure (DPI).
“Held fruitful talks with President Lula, who has always been passionate about India-Brazil friendship. Our talks included ways to deepen trade ties and diversify bilateral exchanges,” PM Modi posted on X, sharing images from the meeting.
He also emphasized areas of collaboration including space, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and defence. “Clean energy, sustainable development and climate change were prominent topics in our discussions,” he added.
During a joint press briefing, PM Modi expressed deep appreciation for Brazil’s hospitality and announced that receiving the country’s highest national honor was not just a personal moment of pride, but one for 1.4 billion Indians. He dedicated the award to President Lula’s enduring commitment to strengthening India-Brazil relations.
“My friend President Lula is the Chief Architect of the Strategic Partnership between India and Brazil. Every meeting with him inspires me to work harder for the progress of both our nations,” he concluded.
