Mohan Babu Faces Legal Action After Allegedly Attacking Reporter Amid Family Dispute
Veteran actor Mohan Babu is embroiled in a legal controversy following an incident at his Hyderabad residence in Jal Palli, where he allegedly attacked a reporter with a microphone, resulting in serious injuries. The incident, which occurred during media coverage of ongoing family disputes, led to the filing of an attempt-to-murder case against the actor.
Subsequently, Mohan Babu applied for anticipatory bail from the Telangana High Court, but his plea was rejected. The actor then approached the Supreme Court seeking relief. The Supreme Court issued notices to the respondents and scheduled the next hearing for four weeks, while providing temporary relief by directing the police not to take any coercive action against him.
Senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi, representing Mohan Babu, argued that the incident occurred in the heat of the moment amidst tensions stemming from a family dispute. Rohatgi also emphasized that the actor had no malicious intent, had apologized publicly to the journalist, and expressed his willingness to offer compensation. He pointed out that the media representatives had trespassed onto Mohan Babu’s property.
The Supreme Court raised concerns over the justification of attacking the journalist, even if they had entered the residence. This remark underscores the court’s attention to the nature of the incident as it continues to unfold.
