Mohanlal Opens Up About His Prayers for Mammootty’s Recovery: A Personal Matter
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal recently addressed the media regarding his decision to offer prayers at Sabarimala for the quick recovery and well-being of his close friend and fellow superstar Mammootty. He made it clear that the act was a personal matter and shouldn’t be scrutinized or discussed in public.
At a pre-release event for director Prithviraj’s L2: Empuraan, Mohanlal was asked about his friendship with Mammootty and his recent gesture of offering prayers for his friend’s health. Mohanlal responded firmly, “Why must I say that out? I went to Sabarimala and offered prayers for him. Somebody in the Devaswom board there leaked that receipt to the press. Why should I tell that out? It is all very personal, isn’t it? Why should you tell about somebody for whom you pray?”
The superstar emphasized the authenticity of his prayers, adding, “There are a lot of people who say that ‘I will pray for you’ but will be talking about something else. If you say, you will pray for someone, you must pray. He (Mammootty) is my friend. There is nothing wrong. I can pray for you as well.”
When questioned about Mammootty’s health, as reports had been circulating concerning his condition, Mohanlal reassured fans, especially those in Tamil Nadu, where Mammootty has a huge following. He said, “Mammootty is fine. He had a small problem like everybody else. (There is) nothing to worry.”
Mohanlal’s comments come at a time when Mammootty’s health had sparked some speculation, but the superstar’s reassuring words have eased the concerns of fans.
On the professional front, Mohanlal is gearing up for the release of L2: Empuraan, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film is set to release on March 27, 2025, with high expectations after the tremendous success of the first installment, which grossed over Rs 200 crore. The film is jointly produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Lyca Productions, and Sri Gokulam Movies, with music by Deepak Dev and cinematography by Sujith Vaassudev.
