Monsoon Session of Parliament Set to Commence Amidst Key Legislative Agendas
New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament is poised to kick off on Monday with the focal point being the presentation of the Union Budget scheduled for July 23. Spanning 19 sittings in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha until August 12, the session will also witness Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presenting the Economic Survey on the inaugural day.
Among the legislative priorities, the Centre plans to introduce six bills, including the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak 2024 aimed at modernizing India’s civil aviation sector, alongside significant proposals such as the Disaster Management (Amendment) Law Bill and the Boilers Bill. Additionally, bills promoting the development of the Coffee and Rubber industries are also on the agenda, underscoring the government’s focus on sectoral growth.
In preparation for the session, an all-party meeting convened by the Centre on Sunday emphasized the need for collaborative efforts from all political factions to ensure smooth proceedings. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stressed that parliamentary decorum and constructive dialogue were paramount, highlighting the government’s openness to addressing all pertinent issues raised during the session.
Key topics expected to be debated include the NEET paper leak, governance issues in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, alleged misuse of investigative agencies, and the appointment of the Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker. With discussions set to adhere to decisions made in prior Business Advisory Committee meetings, the session anticipates robust parliamentary exchanges under the guidance of the Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman.
As the Monsoon Session unfolds, stakeholders await deliberations that will shape legislative outcomes and steer national policy initiatives amidst a dynamic political landscape.
