Mumbai Doctor Jumps Off Atal Setu Bridge, Search Operation Underway
In a deeply distressing incident, a 32-year-old doctor from Mumbai’s JJ Hospital went missing after reportedly jumping off the Atal Setu Bridge on the night of July 7. The doctor, identified as Dr. Onkar, had earlier informed his mother that he was heading home for lunch.
According to police reports, Dr. Onkar left the hospital in his car and called his mother to say he was on his way. However, around 9:40 p.m., he allegedly parked his vehicle on the Atal Setu Bridge — the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai — and jumped into the water below.
Local residents who witnessed the incident immediately alerted the authorities. Upon reaching the scene, the police found a parked car on the bridge with an iPhone inside. Using the vehicle registration details, they identified the missing individual as Dr. Onkar from JJ Hospital.
Since the incident, search and rescue operations have been ongoing, with assistance from the Coast Guard. The police are investigating the circumstances that led to the doctor’s extreme step and are also looking into possible personal or professional distress that may have contributed.
As the search enters its third day, authorities continue to appeal for any witnesses to come forward with information. The incident has shocked both the medical community and local residents.
