Director Nag Ashwin’s sci-fi epic fantasy “Kalki 2898 AD” has garnered widespread acclaim for its stunning visuals, thought-provoking themes, and powerful performances. In a recent interview, Ashwin revealed two scenes from the film that are his personal favorites.
One of the most memorable moments in “Kalki 2898 AD” features Deepika Padukone’s character, Sumathi, navigating a perilous tunnel of fire as she escapes from the Complex. Ashwin expressed his admiration for this scene, noting its technical and performance-related challenges.
“Deepika was outstanding in the tunnel walk scene. It was tough to film, but she executed it gracefully and with deep emotion, making it one of my favorite parts of the movie, despite the short filming duration. I told Deepika that it would be iconic,” Ashwin explained.
Another standout scene for Ashwin is the climactic battle between the immortal warrior Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan) and the powerful rebel Bhairava (Prabhas). The director commended the acting prowess of both actors and the way the scene builds tension and excitement.
“The climax is where everything comes together – the story, the characters, the themes. And to have legends like Amitabh and Prabhas facing off, it’s just electric. I’m really proud of how that scene turned out, including the editing and the music,” Ashwin said.
While the director also enjoyed the interval segment for its entertaining elements, he believes the aforementioned scenes are truly iconic. Those who have watched the film will undoubtedly agree.
