Actor Nani Sees No Competition Between ‘Hit: The Third Case’ and Suriya’s ‘Retro’
As the much-awaited films Hit: The Third Case and Retro gear up for a simultaneous release on May 1, actor Nani, who stars in the former, has made it clear that he doesn’t see the films as competitors but as a celebration of cinema. At a recent press conference in Chennai, Nani was asked how he felt about his film going head-to-head with Suriya’s Retro at the box office.
Nani, ever the gracious professional, responded with positivity: “I don’t think it is competition. I think it is partying. I think we both are coming to celebrate our films with all of you.” He expressed his admiration for Retro, stating, “Definitely, it will be amazing here. Retro will be the first choice of the Tamil audience and rightfully so. I hope you will have a great experience in theatres watching Retro because I have huge respect for Suriya sir and I love Karthik’s (Karthik Subbaraj) work and I am sure they are going to create some magic in theatres.”
Nani emphasized that both films deserve success and can coexist on the same weekend. “I think a great weekend can have two films. So, after you all enjoy your Retro, I am promising you all a great experience in the theatres with Hit 3. In Telugu also, we are going to deliver, and at the same time, I hope Retro also works very well in Telugu.” He added that it wasn’t just about Retro and Hit 3 but also Raid 2, releasing in Hindi. Nani said, “I want May 1 to be that day where, across the country, all movies do very, very well and bring back audiences to theatres in hordes because all three films look exciting. All three films have great content. I want that day to be celebrated like a movie-watching day.”
Hit: The Third Case, which is the third installment in the HIT franchise, features Nani as the tough cop Arjun Sarkaar. The film’s teaser, which was released earlier, showcases Nani’s character using his laathi (stick) skills while investigating a series of crimes and finding patterns to establish motives. The teaser ends with a suspenseful voiceover, asking, “Are you really a police officer?” to which Arjun Sarkaar responds, “People have believed this lie for far too long. I will show you the original.”
The film, directed by Dr. Sailesh Kolanu, is eagerly awaited by fans of the HIT universe, as it promises to deliver a gripping crime thriller. Along with Nani, the film stars Srinidhi Shetty in the lead role. The film is produced by Prashanthi Tipirneni, with music composed by Mickey J Meyer and cinematography by Sanu John Varghese. Editing is handled by Karthika Srinivas R.
As both Hit: The Third Case and Retro are set to captivate audiences, Nani’s message of celebrating good cinema and encouraging a shared cinematic experience between the two films reflects the positive spirit that is needed to revive the movie-going culture post-pandemic. Fans are looking forward to enjoying both films, which promise to be memorable in their own right.
